Terms of service

These terms govern use of Merdot Connect, operated by Merdot. Using the platform means accepting them.

Messages to people who have agreed to hear from you. Consent is the whole basis on which this platform can operate.

You are responsible for holding proof of that consent. The platform records consent per channel to help you, but the obligation is yours.

Content that complies with the rules of whatever network carries it, including the messaging platform and telecom policies that apply in the recipient's country.

Anything to a person who has not agreed to receive it, or who has opted out.

Content that is unlawful, deceptive, or designed to defraud, including messages that impersonate another business.

Content promoting anything prohibited by the networks that carry it.

We may suspend an account that breaches this, and we will act quickly where a breach threatens other customers' ability to send.

The platform is prepaid. You add credit to a wallet, and each message draws down against it at the rate shown before it is sent.

A live message will not be sent if the balance does not cover it. We refuse rather than send on credit, because a message already delivered cannot be recalled if the invoice is never paid. Nothing is sent and nothing is charged.

The minimum top-up is ₹500. Below that the payment processing fee takes an unreasonable share of the credit.

A message we refuse, suppress or reject is not charged for. Ever.

Test keys cost nothing and work with an empty wallet. You can exercise the entire platform, including compliance checks and webhooks, without paying anything.

Automatic top-up, if you switch it on, charges the amount you chose when your balance falls below the level you set. It stops trying after three consecutive failures rather than repeatedly presenting a card that keeps declining.

Credit that has been added is not refundable in cash, but it does not expire while your account is open. If we close your account for a reason that is not your breach, we refund the unused balance.

Prices can change. We will give notice before a change takes effect, and a change never applies to credit already spent.

A subscription is separate from wallet credit. The wallet pays for messages; a subscription unlocks capabilities, principally the ability to send from your own verified domain.

Subscriptions renew for the period you chose. You can cancel at any time and keep what you have paid for until the period ends. We do not refund a part-used period.

If a subscription lapses, your sending domains stop being covered. We will tell you before that happens rather than letting it fail silently.

A domain you add is approved automatically when your plan covers one and the domain passes our checks. It is not approved automatically if it is a public mail provider or a shared hosting subdomain, because those are not yours to authorise.

You must control the domain. Publishing our records proves it, and we verify by reading DNS rather than taking your word.

We can switch a domain off at any time if it starts causing harm to delivery, whatever you are paying. Every customer sends through shared infrastructure, and one account's behaviour affects everybody else's mail. We will tell you why.

We will operate the platform with reasonable care and be honest about its state. Where a channel is not ready, we say so rather than accepting messages we cannot deliver.

We do not guarantee delivery. No messaging platform honestly can. Delivery depends on networks, carriers and recipient devices outside our control.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, though we will tell you plainly when something is wrong.

Your data stays yours. We process it to run the service and for nothing else.

You can export it at any time and take it elsewhere.

You can close your account whenever you like.

We may close an account that breaches these terms, that is used to defraud, or that puts the platform's ability to deliver at risk. Except in serious cases we will warn first.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Ahmedabad, Gujarat have jurisdiction.
